Fate of Phaeton

I used several elements from other linocuts here, but the interesting part was Phaeton falling to the sea. This took a number of reductions to develop the texture and drawn elements.

Phaeton was the son of Helios, the sun god. He begged his father to let him drive the chariot of the sun. Reluctantly Helios handed the reigns to his inexperience son, which proved fatal. Phaeton quickly lost control and after many complaints, from the stars in the sky to the Earth itself Zeus strikes Phaeton with one of his lightning bolts, killing him instantly. His dead body falls into the river Eridanus, and his sisters, the Heliades, are turned to poplars as they mourn him.
