Frankton Locks
£25.00
The four locks at Welsh Frankton were originally intended to be on the main line of the Ellesmere Canal between Chester and Shrewsbury. However money was short and the Ellesmere canal never reached Chester or Shrewsbury, eventually becoming what we now call the Llangollen Canal. The locks now stand at the entrance to the 38 mile Montgomery Canal which was abandoned after a breach in 1944 but is now undergoing restoration towards Newtown.
