Saturday Bridge, Birmingham

Saturday Bridge crosses the Farmers Bridge flight of 13 locks on the Birmingham and Fazeley Canal in central Birmingham. These cobbles once echoed around the clock to the sound of the hooves of the donkeys and mules used to pull the short haul ‘joey boats’ along the 180 miles of canals which made up the Birmingham Canal Navigations. The imaginative regeneration of the Birmingham canals and surroundings, including the nearby ICC & Symphony Hall and National Indoor Arena, has turned this into a popular walk for city workers and shoppers.
